life is blooming

Thank goodness tomorrow in the blog world isn't the same as tomorrow in real life.....being that I did say that I was going to post again tomorrow and that was....um, five days ago.  well, I did have good intentions, but...

anyhow, life here has been very busy, way too dramatic, and always interesting. I will spare you the details for now...maybe... I leave in just a few days for the wonderful world of Oz.... oh-my-god, just thinking about it makes my stomach somersault, it feels unreal and most likely will until I am back home again and can digest everything.  I have a gamut of feelings when it comes to this trip, from fearful to fearless and everything in-between... oh, how I wish someone was going with me, to calm my nerves, to keep me company when that long plane ride takes flight, but if I think of it as a journey, as time to reflect on this life, time to read the stack of books I have planned to take with me, watch movies, write an article that is due by June 1st, listen to my music, recall memories that have been pushed aside from being so busy, write & draw in my new journal, sleep, and just be...it doesn't sound so bad...even though I have been told I can do ALL of those things and still not be there yet..... more somersaults.

I love, love, love this photo of my boy!  He was SO thrilled to find these sweet little wild flowers under a tree...he picked just what you see in his hand and gave them to his nature tour guide while on a little Field trip last week.  We were both silenced when she scolded him in front of his whole class, telling everyone never-ever pick the flowers.....what???? Personally, I think life it just too short not to the pick flowers...wild or not.   The worst part is she made him throw them down on the ground.... sigh.

Well, I do hope to post again...just to say "see you soon" ...especially those of you who are 22 long hours in a plane ride away...  ;-)

okay...so NOW how about some art???  .... first my table, no wonder I moved outside to paint.    P1070348

...and the beginning of a few journal pages to take on the plane with me....nina gave me this idea and I love it, it's comfort to my soul!  I can't wait to see her journal that she has been filling while in Perth.

Misty, I am an Aussie living in LA; I have made that trip many times. Don't be scared of it. Read and sleep then read some more. Then you are there. The thing that amazes me every.single.time is the fact that you just buy a ticket and get on a plane ... and then ... YOU ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD! It is so simple and magic. I hope you love my country as much as I do.

You will do fine and have an amazing time! Just look at everything with the eyes of a child learning all the new things life has to offer...Wishing you a safe and happy trip!

I love to get on a plane by myself. I always try for the window seat so I can watch the take offs and landings; that keeps me entertained until they bring the drinks, food and start the movie. I too write in my journal and read; have been to Tahiti and Rarotonga on long flights and it was a good time to reflect and be anonymous. It feels good sometimes to be on a plane alone where no one knows you and where you can just exist in utter peace. At least that's how I think of it. Oh, you'll have such adventures to share with the rest of us. (***blessings from your fairy godmother***)

The trip REALLY isn't so bad, all flights going according to plan... It is a perfect chance to grab time for yourself. When we went to Thailand, I had pills to knock me out.. never used them (32 hours), I watched 1 movie on the way over, and 'disappeared' after that... Oddly, as Judy said, utter peace! I like to think, it used to take people month's, Years to do this! What a lucky girl am I!

aggggghhhhhhhh!!!! This time next week, i'll be going to bed with butterflies in my tummy and you'll be way overhead, sleeping, dreaming, reading and writing and then, and then WOW! I can't wait! As everyone already said, enjoy the flight - its a moment to just stop and be... and get lots of sleep cos there'll be wonderful adventures to have at this end! xoxoxxo

Ahhh dear Misty, not long to go now and your happy self will be in the wonderful land of oz. Enjoy your time on the plane, use it to just be and it will whizz by before you even know it.

See you next week!!!!!

Misty - what a wonderful light post. I can taste the spring in it. Looking forward to your arrival.

Hehehehe what Samm said!!!! Cannot wait for the classes but have the same butterflies as you :))

Have a trip filled with adventure, relaxation, and moments that take your breath away. I am so excited for you!!! (((hugs)))

Ugh, that tour guide! I am going through my own angst with my son's teacher right now, who seems to almost getting pleasure in outing him in front of other students for errors he makes. What's wrong with these adults? Don't they know our children are so impressionable? Sorry for ranting, I just felt it all over again when I read your post. I hope your trip is amazing and can't wait to hear about it. Beautiful art as always. ((HUGS)) for the trip!!!

Misty, I've just recently found your blog and artwork and I love it!! I am in the land of Oz and your post here makes you sound so far away and yet your blog makes you feel so close. I do hope you will enjoy your flight, I can't imaging an hour on a plane let alone 22 hours, fear of flying!! The others here made it sound so peaceful and tranquil for you. I do hope you will have that experience and not the fearful one!! Enjoy and create more so you can share with us in blogland.
Tess

Love the desk shot, reminds me a lot of mine. I love your style of painting and wish much success in your journey to Australia. What an exciting adventure.

Beautiful new pieces as well!!!

Safe and magical travels...enjoy the solitude..have a glass of wine :) And don't forget to lie in the grass and watch the stars...you will see the Southern Cross! WOW!

xo will be thinking of you...

(gorgeous everything by the way...banner, photos...PAINTINGS! You!)

have a safe and wonderful magical trip :)

sigh, why on earth did she make him throw them down on the ground, that makes me sad ... its a beautiful photo, he looks so happy :)

I love your blog and look forward to meeting you and taking your class in Wisconsin-your art is breathtaking! Wow-that nature guide needs help!!! The picture is so sweet and we all should be so filled with wonder, discovery, and beauty! What good did it do to throw the flowers on the ground? Talk about lack of respect for nature! enjoy every moment of your trip-it sounds fantastic. Looking forward to your future posts.

Oh, I hope he never has to be with that nature tour guide again! I'm glad you captured such sweetness in a photo. Such tender souls should be treated with respect and kindness.

i've never flown that far - the 10.5 hours to california is just perfect - but i'll pray you'll do all the things you hope to do and meet some cool passenger who will entertain you with great stories :o)
safari salama, dear misty, we'll miss you...
(you look deep in prayer as you paint)xxx

The accomodation is all sorted!
Talk soon,
Love Jo xoxo
P.S. Adore that picture of your son, he is a real cutie.

Good Lord, what is wrong with people? A field trip is a field. trip. Get it, lady? ANYWAY, let me take off these boxing gloves for now and tell you to have a great grand time! Cannot wait to read and see all the fun stuff you and another couple folks in blogland make of this excursion.

Thumbs up,
Candace

Hi Misty

I so wish I could attend your class in Melb, but *sigh* not to be this time. But I do hope that you enjoy this trip so much, that you want to come back!!

Misty, where can I buy some of your paintings?? I looked on your etsy shop but there was nothing there. Thanks so much. Natalie

Misty,

i wish a joyful jorney for you! I can not even imagine what kind of flight that would be,it took 6 hours to get in Dubai and that was quite of an numbing experience ;)
Misty could you give a hug from me to Nina?

It was inspiring to see where you paint, how you paint. Hopefully someday i can see your painting on my wall...someday...

sending lots of happy moments for you & family!

<3 Delia

I sooo love your art. I wish I were going with you but instead I am going on an adventure of my own. We are packing up and moving to the country. Just my husband, me and two fur-babies. The children have flown the nest. Have a wonderful journey. I will look forward to reading about it when you return.

I have been reading your blog forever it seems, and have never posted a comment. I just wanted to say that you have some goregous art posted with this entry (well all of your art is gorgeous, but today's entries gave me special joy).

Thank-you so much for following your muse and and sharing the results with us all. You are so inspiring.

Lovely work as always...darling picture of your son, and I can only imagine what restraint it took to not give that tour guide a verbal lashing. She obviously has not worked much with children.

I can't wait to see your photos from this trip. I am sure they will be amazing. Wishing you a safe and adventure filled trip!

Hugs from me to you!

Not long to go now Misty. I've done the trip to the UK from here a few times, that takes 24 hours, but so much of the time seems to be taken up eating, then there's movies to watch, you're with Qantas so you're in safe hands, remember the movie Rain Man. Love your art, I'm looking forward to taking your class. See you Tuesday
