a few captured moments from the weekend...
the tree is finally decorated! this is the only photo i have taken of it thus far.. i like this picture, it captures this time in my life so well... taken late saturday morning, a bit blurry, as my little boy waltzes around the house, always in motion, still in pj's that are too small, he insists on wearing them... the tree still being decorated four days after the decorations were pulled out, pine needles all over the floor, papers here & there, a stack of christmas cd's, a pile of homework to be done, a half finished gingerbread house... but that was yesterday. today the dining room is sparkling, everything is done & put away....well, mostly. the table that was just hours ago covered in a few layers of sugar cookie icing is clean again, ready for whatever project, dinner, or puzzle takes over next...

Everyone's so bundled up in these shots...I guess the weather really has finally changed. I still think it's much better then what I have here in Wisconsin right now, but the walk @ Mint Springs I'm sure was a great time, regardless of the weather...xo

PJs that are too small -- that's a 5-6 year-old boy for sure! Mine insists on wearing pants (but not to school) that are too small. He's afraid of buttons and doesn't care for the snaps on his school pants. But, he's growing like a weed and soon those high-waters won't fit at all. Still, it's so fun to let them be who they are, high-waters and all... =)
Love the shots (cool lighting of the portrait and cool new portrait!). HUGS and happy holidays!

Oh my what a beautiful painting, Misty...such a lovely portrait. I always enjoy seeing your family shots and the shot of everyone in the woods is great. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and for being such an inspiration to us all. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday season.

Goodness, I have that same light fixture in my kitchen!!
Too small pj's....my son wore his winter boots all summer one year with shorts and t-shirts. I finally had to "lose" a jacket that he wouldn't give up because it was too small to keep him warm! I love little boys - he's 28 now and did not ask my permission.

I love the photos, especially the tree and your little whirlwind. :) I was looking at some of your art that you've posted over the years and my goodness, they have always been so beautiful, but lately, it's just, well, they could hang in a museum. You have really found your "voice"...
love to you...xoxo

No worries, Misty- we plugged in a tiny artificial and are calling it done!! Although, when I came home some lights were up ever so artfully by my sweetie. ;) I love the blurry photo of your son in his too small jammies- :D.
Your painted faces are amazing and I cannot wait to learn from you!

you described my house exactly! half-decorated tree, project-covered table, random piles and everything! i so thoroughly enjoyed the painting layers class and i am excited about the painting faces class. i am going to try to paint a face a day like you suggested and today the face i painted came out a lot better than the one from the day before! ;)

Hi Misty! Merry Christmas! I was so thrilled to see you post a poem by Rumi. I love his work. The photo of your family in the woods.... it's so magical. I love that there is so much "nature time" with your children, and they are such animated models. I can't imagine how busy your life is... however do you do it all? In the meantime, I can't wait to get the details on your next class. I am already missing the weekly installment from this "Painting layers". I'll just have to check out your videos some more! Enjoy the heart journey of Christmas! Hugs, Annie
